Aero Ball is Fitting Finale to Notable Day
The Aero ball organised by tho Manawatu Aero Club in honour of the homecoining of Squadron-Leader McGregor and Mr. 11. C. Walker was a fitting conclusion to a wonderful day. The Jade tearooms, where tho function was held last night, wero brightly decorated and a gay crowd in festive mood enjoyed dancing ou an excellent floor to first-elasS music. The arrangements was admirably carried out by the entertainment committee of the club, comprising Messrs J. Smillie, N. E. Lecher and B. Tanner, the two last-named also officiating as M.’sC. Mr. H. ii. Edmuuds, president of the club, was a genial host, and had the assistance of a full muster of club members. Also present were the Mayor and Mayoress, Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Mansford, Mr. J. A. Nash, M.F., and Mrs. Nash. The presence of visiting airmen added to tho pleasure of the occasion, among these being Squadron-Leader Gerald Stcdman (Wellington), Squadron-Lead-er Findlay, B.N.Z.A.l I ’., Flight-Lieuten-ant Gotland (Hastings) Flying-Officer Dix (Blenheim), Flying-Officer Linklater (Manawatu), Flight-Lieutenant Somerset Thomas, 8.N.Z.A.F., FlyingOfficer Buscb, Pilots E. Liverfon, 11. Wilton, Coachman, Lloyd, B. Kelly and Miss Power Collins (Wellington), .Messrs E. Harvie (Auckland), E. A. Barker, E, M. Field and B. D. Brown (Hastings), Dr. Murray K. Litchfield (Wellington), Messrs K. G. Smith (Wellington) and Willis (Blenheim). When the guests of honour arrived they wCre announced by Mr. Lecher as "The Boys!” and all present joined in according them musical honours with rousing cheers for Squadron-Leader McGregor and "Mr. Walker. Dainty supper whs served and ices and cool drinks were much in demand.
