Ping Pong Tournament And Dance at Feilding
On Monday (Labour Day) evening, the Makino Ping Pong Club held its wind-up handicap tournament and dance, thus bringing a most successful season’s play to an end. The Oddfellows’ hall lent itself to the fullest advantage for the occasion, and there was an excellent attendance which included members of the Feilding, Dunollv, Aorangi, Colyton, B-eaconsficld, Sandon and To Arakura clubs. The ladies’ tournament, after a well-fought battle, resulted in Miss Jean Chcetham (Aorangi) gaining the first prize and Miss Noeline Laitig second. In the men’s finals, Mr D. Mitchell came first and Mr R. Humphrey second, while the Sandbrook cup, which goes to the player winning most gumes in matches with outside clubs dining the season, was won by Mr M. W. I.uing for the second timo in succession. Mr A. 11. Laing (patron of the club) presented tho trophies and also thanked those present for their patronage, which resulted in the evening’s great success. At the conclusion of tho tournament supper was served, this being followed by dancing which continued till early morning. The winners of tho Monte Carlo waltz were Miss Noe Vino Laing and Mr I. Reid, and of the spot waltz Miss .T. Garlick and Mr T. Wheelcans.
