GOVERNMENT TAKES DRASTIC PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES

Following the discovery that Socialists were in possession of substantial supplies of smuggled arms, also documents containing elaborate plans for a revolt, the Government has taken drastic precautionary measures. The Premier lale at night visited President Zamora and reported the situation.

The Government is convinced that Left Party supporters now possess all types of weapons, the estimated cost thereof being at least £138,000. Civic Guards yesterday stopped a lorry loaded with rifles, ammunition and liquid flame-throwers. The authorities also discovered on the outskirts a chemical laboratory for the manufacture of explosives.

Bombs and Arms Discovered inMadrid

The Madrid correspondent of the Times states that the police discovered evidence of a revolutionary plan to destroy the police headquarters aud various Ministers by bombing. They seized a truck containing bombs aud ammunition, and found other bombs and arms in various parts of Madrid. A complete chemical laboratory was discovered designed for the manufacture of high explosives.

The Prime Minister stated that the Government is confident that it trill be able to deal, with any outbreak.
