Fast Trans-Tasman Steamer
TENDERS TO BE CALLED WITHOUT DELAY. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 6. Encouraged by the goodwill displayed by the New Zealand and Australian Governments and in view of their declaration of their attitude towards the need for protecting the local shipping industry, the Union Steamship Co. intends without delay to call for tenders in Great Britain for the construction of a fast trans-Tasman steamer, which will excel foreign competitive vessels in service and speed.
