One hundred thousand flood refugees are living in tree-tops near Oliangyuan. owing to their houses having been washed away by the overflowing of tho Yellow River. It is reported 300 villages are completely inundated, leaving the inhabitants destitute of food and clothing. It is estimated floods and drought arc responsible for the loss of a thousand million dollars this year, nearly two-thirds of tho country being affected by tho twin perils.
