Returned Soldiers’ Golf Tournament

PALMERSTON NORTH PLAYER WINS AT WANGANUI Per Press Association. WANGANUI, Last Night. A returned soldiers’ golf tournament was promoted here to-day and, judging by the support accorded, it will become an annual event and will probably develop into a contest of Dominion significance. The players were drawn according to their regiments and it was discovered that all regiments in the Now Zealand Expeditionary Force, plus other Empire regiments, were represented. ’('he Coldstream Guards and the Middlesex Regiment were two outside New Zealand. The players carno from many clubs along the West Coast of the North Island. The championship was won by A. E. Ekstedt, of Palmerston North, who took the Challenge Tin Hat. The Anzac Stroke Handicap was won by ,1. W. Anderson (Brunswick) and the Gallipoli Bogey Handicap by D. H. Strachan (Karioi). A teams’ match was won by the i First Wellington Infantry Battalion . A team of American professionals representing the Professional Golfers' Association, will sail from Los Angeles on October 17 by the Mariposa on a tour of Australia and New Zealand.
