Golfing Honours to New Zealand Ladies

AVith a brilliantly played 79 in the final of the qualifying round of the Australian women's golf championship, Miss Oliver Kay equalled the course record established by Miss Hetty Gaisford yesterday. Miss Kay went out in 37 and came home in 42. Misses Gaisford and Kay headed the list of qualifiers for match play with 161. Following are the scores of the first eight of the sixteen qualifiers:—

Miss Gaisford, whose'handicap was 2, was fourth with an aggregate of 157. Miss Kay was unlucky with her putts, several times lipping the cup. At the .12th she played a. magnificent shot out of a water bunker and sank a 4ft. putt to obtain a birdie four. At the 1 Sth, in an eitdeavour to achieve a 78, she missed a 3ft. putt due to overanxiety. Miss Gaisford played faultless golf, but unluckily found bunkers at the 7tli and 12th.
