After consulting the British Consul and the Australian trade representative (Mr. O'Connor) here, the Chamber of Commerce decided to invite the Duke Of Gloucester to visit the city if he returns to England via Panama, and will ask the State Governor and the Mayor of Sun Francisco to make formal invitations. Likewise the chamber would suggest that it would be appropriate to have an American warship visit Australia and escort the Duke’s vessel across the Pacific.
