GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL CONCERT. The concert which tho Girls’ High School is presenting on Tuesday, June 26, at the Opera Houso promises to bo one of the best to date. All items -will be given by pupils of the school, with the exception of solos by Mr. Watters, singing master at the school. Somo fine singing will be given by tho school singing classes, with Joan Wollerman as soloist. Tho drill and ballets prepared by Miss Benstead are all quite now, and tho elocution classes will present two items illustrating choral recitation, the latest development of elocution. G. K. Chesterton’s stirring war-poom, “Lopanto,” and Elroy Flecker’s “Hassau” have been selected for presentation, and these alone will te well worth hearing, as showing what can be done by careful training. All interested in elocution should hear these. The Greek Temple Dance is an exquisite item. A band of worshippers go through a series of beautiful poses before the altar of their god, when they are disturbed and driven aside by a band of Bacchanalian revellers, who then perform a dance of totally different character. June Scott, well known as a dancer, will give a Spanish dance in costume, and Joan Paton. a most promising young ’cellist, will give a ’cello solo. Tho performance will end with a playette, “Tho Patchwork Quilt,” produced by Miss Robinson.
