At Emmanuel Congregational Church, Broadway, to-morrow, Rev. C. G. Hedley Bycroft will conduct both services. The subject at tho 11 o’clock servieo will bo “Reserving Oneself For tho Highest,” and in the ovoning, at 7 o’clock, “Tho Last Words of Jesus.” Mr. David Spring will render tho solo aud the choir the anthem. Rev. C. G. Hedley Bycroft lias only three more Sundays in Emmanuel Church before leaving for Dunedin, and an invitation is extended to all to make these three Sundays the best during his ministry in this city. At both services to-mor-row, retiring collections will be taken on behalf of tho organ fund. At the United Evangelical Church Mr. Wesley E. Richards, the pastor, will preach at tho 11 o’clock service tomorrow on “Desires of the .Soul.’’ His evening subject wiil bo “The Touchstone of Ages.” Within the roach of all has been brought a great testingstone whereby all metals may be tested. Beliefs and theories of all kinds should bo brought into touch with this stono of testing when tlieir worth or worthlessness will immediately be seen. Never was there such a plethora of beliefs aucl thories claiming betterment for mankind. Let us bring them to the touchstone for testing on Sunday night. All will bo warmly welcomed. Commissioner and Mrs. Cunningham, territorial commanders of the Salvation Army in New Zealand, are paying tlieir final visit to Palmerston North this week-end. The Commissioner has received notice of his transfer to South Africa after four and a half years in the Dominion. An opportunity will be afforded the residents of tho district of hearing the Commissioner on Sunday in the Citadel Broadway. In the afternoon the Cpmnrissioncr will speak of his wide experience in missionary work. Staff-Captain and Mrs. Pearce, late of Java, will also speak. His Worship the Mayor will preside. The special preacher at St. Andrew’s Church to-morrow will be Rev, Alan Watson, M.A., of Christchurch, who is coming up specially to conduct tho services. Ho is perhaps the most outstanding of the young men in the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand. Being elected as assistant to First Church, Dunedin, as lie was, immediately on leaving Theological Hall, signifies a young man of marked promise. He now occupies one of tho leading Presbyterian churches in New Zealand, >St. Pauls, of Christchurch, and despite his youth is discharging the many-sided duties of this exacting position with marked distinction. Evangelist G. Hinrichsen w 31 speak both morning and ovening at tho Church of Christ this Sunday. All members are urged to hear tho morning address on “An Acceptable Present.’ Another pla n address will be presented on Sunday night, when tho evangelist will speak on “Fighting Against Facts’’ On account of crowded audiences, friends are advised to be early to secure comfortable seating, Mr. Parker will lead community singing.
