From the Hub

OUR MOTTO. I’m just a Cor in Life’s vast wheel, _ That daily makes the same old trip, Yet what a joy it is to feel That but for me the wheel mißht slip. It's somcthinß, after all, to joR Along', and be a good old Cog! Dear Cogs, Such a number of leters again this week, that I’m doubtful whether Mr. Priutermau will be able to squeeze them in. His shoe-horn is very much in evidence these days, and the other day I saw him fingering it anxiously and murmuring that he’d really have to buy a larger one. You won’t mind, will you, dears, when you sec that I have cut many remarks from your letters, because it would be too bad if we couldn’t have our special corners. Look carefully and sec what a number of new Cogs we have to welcome again this week; our Wheel of Gratitude is getting higgef and bigger, but it can never grow too large, can it! By the way, you will all be pleased to learn that Fido has returned from holiday, and Tiddlcy-Wink’s letter will be read eagerly. This week I have to acknowledge a peggy squaro from Tweodledee and a double squaro from Tweedledum, worked in cheery colours. Mountain Lilysent some wild passion fruit, which she espoke of in a letter some time ago, and which is uncommon and rather lovely. Thank you, dears. A number of wool coupons have been received again this week, and another lot of wool will be sent out this morning. From your letters, you are progressing very well with your knitting so far. I hope you will be able to take advantage of the extended time in our special competition. If I make this letter any longer, Mr Pxintcrman’s task will be made all the harder. Love to you all from your friend, THE HUB. Note.—Twcedledee and Tweedledum, owing to lack of space the letters you wrote last week, which were held over, will not be published as you have written again this week. Trooper Tex, your last week’s letter will also have to be omitted.

Palmerston North. Dear Hub, —On Sunday afternoon I read the Cog’s Page for the first time. Immediately I decided to become a Cog. I am eleven and in Std. 5 at West End School. I am sending three penny stamps for my badge. May my pen-name be “Little Sister. We thought that would bo a good name as I am the youngest in the family. It is now my bedtime so I will say goodbye. Love to all the Cogs and yourself from your Loving Cog, Alma Fitch. Welcome to our happy family Alma! I think “Little Sister” will do very well.
