From Our Owu Correspondent. Gift Evening. Miss Helga Hansen, who is shortly to be married, was the guest at a gift evening Held at tho residence of Mr. and Airs. Burne, Carnarvon, on Saturday evening. One spacious room was cleared of furniture and hero the younger set enjoyed dancing, games and competitions, the latter being won by Miss J. Bower and Mr. E. J. Rose. Musical items were rendered by Miss D. Matheson, Miss E. Rose and Miss E. Hansen. In another room 500 was played by the older folk, tho prizes being handed to Airs. iV. A. Davison and Mr. Hansen. Supper was served, after which Miss Hansen was asked to open the numerous parcels. Mr. J. Hansen, oil behalf of his daughter, thanked those present for their kindness and most especially Air. and Airs. Burne. Tho euchre and dance run by the Kopano basketball girls was a great success financially and socially. The euchre prizes were won by Airs. 11. Kirkham and Air. E. J. Arnott. The lucky spot waltz was won by Miss A. Goldfinch and Air. J. Caverhill, and the Alonte Carlo by Miss N. Kennedy ami Air. 11. Bree. Alls? Betty Muir, of Palmerston North, gave an exhibition of tap dancing. This, as well as an exhibition of ballroom dancing by Aliss Reid and Air. Ross, was very much admired.
