The Oringi Hold-up
ONLY A JOKE, STATES DEFENCE. Per Press Association. NAPIER, May 23. The defence in the case in which Stanley Jordan Madden Donald, Herbert Floyd, Robert Floyd and another juvenile, whose name was ordered to be suppressed, on a charge that on March 31st, 1934, at Oringi, near Dannevirke, being armed with an offensive weapon, to wit a six chamber, ed revolver, they assaulted with intent to rob, was that the whole affair was a joke. Two of the accused stated on oath that they had no intention of assault or taking money. His Honour asked when did the laugh start and one of the accuse! said: “At the end.” It was admitted that the scheme was arranged the night before the occurrence
Found Guilty of Assault Per Press Association. NAPIER, Last Night. In the Oringi hold-up case the jury returned a verdict of guilty on the third count, that, of assault. Accused wore remanded till to-mor-row for sentence.
