Mrs. L. Craw’s friends will be pleased to hear she is making- good progress after her recent operation in a private iiospital at Palmerston North. Mr. Reginald Carr, who unfortunately received a broken leg playing football, is progressing as well as can be expected. Mr. Melville Wilson has returned home after undergoing an operation In Palmerston North Hospital. Mr. Clifford Wilson is staying with his parents on his annual leave from duty in Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. Hunt and son, of Rongotea, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs, It. Coker.

Mrs. Greenaway, of Waikanae, has returned home after spending a short holiday with Mrs. Beale. Master Geoffrey Smith has returned to Wellington after spending tho term holidays with his mother, Mrs. W. Smith. Miss Green, who spent the school vacation at Stan way, has resumed duty. Mr. Stewart and his two daughters, Joan and Ray, spent the vacation at Taupo and returned home on Saturday. Mrs. J. D. Nash has been holidaying at Poliangina as the guest of her father, Mr. Roberts.

Miss Mary Lynch lias returned homo after spending a fortnight at Patea. Miss Pat Ross was tho guest of Mrs. Bealo for tho past week. The local basketball team is busy getting into trim for tho opening of tho basketball season. Mr. and. Mrs. Irvine gave an enjoyable party for young people in honour of their niece, Miss Phylis Meade, of Nelson. Amongst those present were: Aliss Linda Irvine, blue crepe-de-Chine and lace; Miss Phylis Meade, blue taffeta; Miss B. Curran, blue ttoral satin; Miss Lorna Rix, lemon crinkle crepe; Miss A. Craw, tomato floral voile; Miss Monica Lynch, pink floral voile; Miss Margaret Lynch, blue silk pique voile; Miss Green, wino satin: Miss Ngaire Lynch, wine windswept. crepe, silver trimmings. Mrs. Irvine received her guests in a frock of wine crepe-de-chine. Also present were. Messrs. -I- Irvine, E. Beale, R. and O. Batchelar, G. Rix, N. Greer, T. Moves, M. Craw, L. and C. Wilson, and 0. Lynch. Dancing, games, competitions and musical items passed, a. very happy evening and the party finished in the parly hours, when nil joined in. singing “Auld Lang .Sync,” and giving three cheers for the host and hostess.
