’ SPORT AT THE KENNELS. Tho meet of the Manawatu hounds yesterday afternoon was at the “Kennels,” Slack’s road, Palmerston North, when there was a fair muster of followers. AVliat promised to be a beautiful afternoon was spoilt by cold, drizzling rain, but notwithstanding this drawback, some good sport was enjoyed and was witnessed by a goodly number of

spectators. A commencement was-made with some hare-hunting on the riverbed, followed by some excellent jumping over the schooling fences in paddocks at the “Kennels,” and also over the fences in Mrs. McDonald’s paddocks just across the road. Among those out were Mrs. A, W. McDonald (on Hinatore), Mr. J. J. Waller (huntsman, on Postman), Mr,-G, H. James (hon. whip, on Lucullis gelding), Mrs. Lane (Air Force), Miss M. Webb (Zip), Miss Joyce Waller (Funny Boy), Miss I\. Bayly (Bonnie Stream), Messrs. K. Duncan (Hawau), ~G. . V. Shannon (Flaxbounic), A. A. .Webb (King’s Counsel), A. W. McDonald (Gran Chaco), C. V. Johns (Cyclone), W. Vickers (Otira Lad), JT. Bell (Imperial Spark), and others. .... The next hunt will be at Mr. Swainson’s, Manakau, on Friday, whilst hounds will meet at the homestead-of Mr. 'IV B.
