AUSTRIA OPENS ITS FIRST “SURVEILLANCE CENTRE.” United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Received Sunday, 7 p.m. VIENNA, Oct. 2S. Austria’s first “surveillance eentre for political prisoners” was opened at W'oollcrsdorf. Housing 20 Nazis and Communists, it resembles tho German camps, but the term concentration camp is forbidden in the newspapers. The prisoners arc obliged to pay for their own food and accommodation; also their guards’ wages and the cost of upkeep of the centre, whither they are conveyed at their own expense.
