Tho Wellington Trotting Club’s Cup Trial meeting was held at Hutt Park in dull, overcast weather, with a heavy northerly wind. DANNEVIRKE RACING- CLUB PROPOSAL TO AMALGAMATE WITH WOODVILLE DEFERRED At a special general mooting of the Dannevirko Racing Club last week, members discussed a proposal that the elub should amalgamate with the Woodville District Jockey Club. Tho secretary stated that the following was tho memorandum of conditions for the Dannovirke Racing Club to race on Woodville racccourso with a view to amalgamating with the Woodville District Jockey Club: —(1) That the Dannevirko club be given tho right to race on the Woodville course for all time; (2) that tho Woodville club make no charge for tho use of the course and appointments others than the cost of putting in order and restoring the same before and after tho meetings, and making good any damage thereto or to plant ;(3) that after the present guaranteed overdraft bank account ox the Dannovirke club has been paid off, the Woodville club shall have ths right to make a charge of 21 per cent, on tho gross totalisator turnover at the Dannovirke meetings; (4) that the Woodville club is to have the right at any time to require the Dannevirke club to amalgamate -with it, providod that if such requisition shall be made before the Dannevirke club’s guaranteed bank overdraft is paid off, any liability thereunder shall be taken over by the amalgamated club; (5) that the Dannevirke club shall immediately, or within one year of the date hereof, divest itself of its freehold and leasehold property, known as th© Dannevirko racecourse and all liability attached thereto, and 3hall hereafter incur no further capital liability; (6) that, it shall be optional for the Woodville District Jockey Club to require tbe following as conditions of amalgamation; (a.) Tho club to be known as the Woodville District Jockey Club; (b) the committee to consist of a pre-

sident, two vice-presidents, one of whom shall be a Woodville member and one a Dannevirke member, a treasurer, who shall be a Woodville member, and 10 stewards (of whom six shall be from Woodville and four from Dannevirke) ; (c) the office of tho club to be at Woodville. After considerable discussion Mr Cyril Hunter moved: "That tho Dannovirke Racing Club amalgamate with the Woodville District Jockey Club on the conditions agreed to by the Woodville Club.” Mr F. Selby seconded the motion. Mr T. H. G. Lloyd moved an amendment: '‘That the question of tho amalgamation of the Dannevirko Racing Club with the Woodville District Jockey Club be held over until after the March meeting, say, on March 22. Mr J. Millar seconded. Tho amendment was carried by 14 votes to 7, several members not voting.
