Arrangements for a National Flower Show

MEETING OF EXECUTIVE HELD A meeting of the executive of the National Flower Show was held at Palmerston North yestorday, Mr. F. J. Nathan presiding. Thero were also present Messrs J. Galland and B. J. Plank (representing the Horticultural Society), J. <l. Stevenson and W. Grey (N.Z. Institute of Horticulture), P. Black (N.Z.I. Curators' of Parks and Reserves) and A. J. Shailcr and A. W. Just (Nurserymen’s Association). Messrs Black, Shailer, A. W. Just and W. Grey were appointed a committee to arrange and allot space for exhibits at the National Flower Show.

The secretary reported that 2500 schedules had been sent out to the Seedmen’s Association, Nurserymen’s Association, Horticultural Societies, Women’s Institutes, and private growers and that applications for space had already been received from the Wanganui Horticultural Society, Palmerston North Horticultural Society, Messrs J. N. Anderson and Son, Napier (exhibit of kentia palms), Messrs Evans and Sawyer (model rock garden), Messrs Brick and Pipes (pots, drains, pipes and vases, etc.), Messrs A. J. Shailer and Sons (gladioli exhibit), Messrs R. E. Harrison and Sons (gladioli). Mr. Nathan reported that the Women’s Institute would require at least 1000 square feet for their exhibit and for courts showing the making of various household articles, etc. Also that the Women’s Institute would stage a pageant of folk dancing on the afternoon of Wednesday, January 24, when 500 women would take part. As the Women’s Institute would require the whole of one hall in which to stage their exhibits, the meeting decided to engage extra accommodation for trade exhibits in the machinery hall and that tho oval be engaged for the pageant and folk dancing on Wednesday afternoon of January - - -
