Fishermen Caught in Storm at Wellington

PIECES OF WRECKAGE WASHED ASHORE Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. A search conducted on sea, Jand and air failed to locate a launch .from the Island Bay fishing ilect which was caught in a strong southerly gale when her engine broke down near Baring Head early this morning. Grave fears for the safety of tire crews were entertained when pieces of wreckage, believed to be part of the missing launch, the Saiitiua, were washed up at Brakcr Bay .during the afternoon. There were three men and a boy aged 15 on board the launch. The crew comprised Vincisco Costa, aged 50 (skipper), of 24 Trent Street, Island Bay; Paolo Pauozzo, aged 42, of 11 Trent street, Island Bay; Gcncrara Amitrano, aged -10, of IS Beef street, Island Bay, and Ronald Frank Alley, aged 15, of IS Reef street, Island Bay.

The search will be continued to-mor-row at daybreak. Mr. A. Dellabarca, ol Eastbourne, accompanied by a number of residents from the Bay, will leave for Pencarrow lighthouse to comb the coast iu that vicinity, while other parties will leave in launches from Island Bay.

Fishing Launches Driven In Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 25. A sudden southerly storm at 6 o’clock this morning, bringing heavy rain, caused the Island Bay fishing launches to beat a hasty retreat from the Straits. Being unable to reach Island Bay they came into Wellington.
