SOILED GLOVES Suede gloves can be cleaned by rubbing them well with hot bran, stale white bread, or Fuller’s earth, which must be removed afterwards with a small brush.
A little milk and soap will quickly restore the freshness to kid gloves. Put the gloves on your hands, dip a piece of flannel into some milk, and rub a little pure soap on it. Rub the gloves well with this, taking special care with the parts between tho fingers. Continue the process until all dirt; is removed, and, after pulling the gloves into shape, lay them out to dry. Chamois leather and fabric gloves of all kinds can be washed with very little trouble. Make a lather with warm water and pure soap, rub the gloves lightly to remove surface dirt and stains.
Rinse them and allow to soak for a few minutes in a fresh lather to which a little ammonia has been added. Squeeze and rinse continually. "When all dirt is removed give them a final rinse in a slightly soapy water and dry in the open air.
Don’t neglect to mend a hole in your glove immediately it appears. In this case a stitch in time really saves nine, as a small hole in a kid or suede glove will very quickly spread into a large tear.
