Garrison Band Carnival
On Wednesday at 2 p.m. the Garrison Band Carnival opens at the Empire Hall. After the official opening by his Worship the Mayor (Mr A. E. Mansford), and Mr J. A. Nash, M.P., there will be a baby show for babies under six months and under 12 months, the prizes for which have been kindly donated by Mr Nash. Tie baby show will be at 3 p.m. sharp. In the evening there will be a programme of Irish dances and other games and competitions, and on Thursday the pupils of Miss Gwen Gibbs will provide the evening's entertainment with fancy dancing. On Friday evening the Boys’ High School will give an exhibition of physical drill. On Saturday afternoon there will be a competition for plain scones, plain and butter spongo cakes, sponge rolls and pikelets, and good prizes will be given to the winners. The supper room will be at the disposal of those who wish to dance. On Saturday evening there will be a coster dance. Thera will be a weight-guess-
ing competition for a sheep kindly donated by Mr J. Linklater, M.P. It is to be hoped the public will turn up in large numbers and so enable the band to purchase the new instruments bo badly needed.
