Kairanga
From Our Own Correspondent. Mrs. C. AV. Turner (acting president), ’Mrs. L. Clark (secretary) and Miss K. Small attended as Kairanga. representatives the AVomeri’s Institute group meeting held at Tiakitabuna on Tuesday. Tho next group meeting is to be held in Long'ourii early in November. Mr. E. 11. Lange, agricultural supervisor .visited tho local school on Tuesday when he gave a demonstration of scientific experiments and presented prizes in connection with the mangold growing competition. In regard to the calf rearing competition, local residents hate, generously donated prizes. The local factory is now running at full pressure, tho manager and full staff of four assistants being employed. Last, week the change over to cheesemaking was effected. On Thursday evening- the annual meeting of the Kairanga Tennis Club was held. Oil account of the wet night the attendance was smaller than was expected. Mr, 11. E. Turner ably presided oyer the meeting. The balance sheet, showing a credit balance of <£3 3s <kl, was adopted. The following officers for _ the ensuing season were elected:—President, Mi. );• A. Lancaster; vice-president, Mr. H. tTurner; club captain, Mr. L. Clark; vic.captain, Miss B. Martin; secretary an ft treasurer, Miss’ E. Green; commitj.ee, Mrs. L. Clark, Misses O. Green, .I. i-rtm-ton, Messrs G. Davey, AV. Cook and Mildon. It was decided to open the season on AVednesday, October -5, whe-n neighbouring clubs arc muted to attend. Votes of thanks were accorded to the re tiring president, Mr. D. Martin, and cam captain, Mr. L. Lancaster.
