BULLETS RAINED ON MAN IN SYDNEY STREET.
United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Received Friday, 8.20 p.m. MELBOURNE, Sept. 22. A murder of the American gangster type occurred at Fitzroy. James John, aged 25, a labourer, was shot five times in the stomach and chest by a man who stepped out of a car and afterwards drove away with a companion. John, who died on the pavement, was in the company of a boxer named Chrisfield. When the car drew up, the bullets were deliberately rained at John, but Chrisfield was unharmed. He declares that the murderer was unknowu to him.
