Ridding Cuba of Machado Influence
ELECTIONS IN FEBRUARY United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph—C opyright. HAVANA, Aug. 25. Taking a firm grip of power, the provisional President (Senor do Cespedes) on Friday issued a decree wiping out all vestiges of the ousted regime, dissolving Congress, and calling for elections on February* 24. l-ne measure declares unconstitutional t e Administration and its acts since May 20 1929, when ex*Prcsident Machado was inaugurated as President for a second term. All international obligations will be observed, however.
Ex-President Machado VISIT TO CANADA ARRANGED OTTAWA, Aug. 25. A cable went forward from tho Government on Friday to the Governor of tho Bahamas (Captain the Hon. B. E. H. Clifford) stating that the entry into Canada of ex-Presidcnt Machado, of Cuba, and three associates, would be arranged. The cx-Prcsident plans to stay two to three months in Montreal.
