Envoy’s Impropriety
The national dignty of Mexico sur* vived a terrible assault recently. Be' cause ho danced the rumba scantily] clad during an outdoor festival iu Santo Domingo, Francisco Navarro, Mexican Charge d’Affaires, was mado the subject of a petition from compatriots demanding his recall, on the charge of jeopardising the national dignity.. The evening newspaper "Grafico," taking up the editorial cudgels of Senor Navarro, commended Ms sincerity, terming it "a great relief from the usual diplomatic duplicity which, impelled, envoys to the Dominican Eepublic to cling to woollens and forego the native dances.” Tho opinion was expressed that Senor Navarro would continue at his post, making himself at home with the Dominicans.
