Unique Attraction Current at Regent Theatre

"LES STATUESQUES” ABE ENTERTAINING TROUPE. Heralded everywhere as an attraction unique alike in conception and execution, the "Poses Poetiques" of the troupe, ‘‘Lcs Statuesques, are now current at the Begent Theatro with the film, "It’s Great To Be Alive. ” Certainly the presentation of "Les .Statucsques/" four in number, who hail from the " Holies Bergeres, ” Paris, writes a new chapter in New Zealand stage history. Their work is most unusual, possessing a genuine grace and power to charm that is all its own. The audience caunot fail to be thrilled by the every detail of artistic poses of these master craftsmen, who have seized on a novel way of utilising sympathy of form and intricacy of poise to "put. over" a genuine appeal. Briefly, their work consists of a series of statues from real life, seeking to portray such abstracts as grief, friendship, revenge and anger, as well as impressions of slavery, the Bock of Ages, and classic deities. The form of statuaries, done as they are in an all-white ensemble, is certainly a rare interpretation of the beautiful, and has been provocative of laudatory comment wherever witnessed. This novelty company hails direct from the Greater Union Theatres of Australasia, and is working New Zealand under J. C. Williamson, Ltd. Prior to this they made a tour of Europe, taking the Continent by storm through the arresting veracity of their work. Since touching these shores they have been acclaimed by the cities of Christchurch and Auckland as superlative in their role, and are now here to intrigue Palmerston North audiences before traversing the rest of the Dominion and the Pacific Islands.

Certainly “Les Statuesques" in the practice of their exacting art are a sight not to bo missed, and once seen not readily forgotten. A packed theatre on Saturday voiced its appreciation of a talented offering- with thunderous applause, and in so doing merely confirmed an established opinion. What has been aptly termed “the act beautiful" will bo staged to-night and to-morrow night only, and nobody can afford to miss such a rare opportunity. “Les Statuesques” are certainly a strong drawing card alike for young and old.
