The second round of the Rangitlkci handicap has been played as under:—D. Ransom beat R. Ingram; L. V. Homes beat K. W. Dalrymple; R. O. Dalrymple beat W. Aicken; G. D. Flower beat 11. Pearce; S. Wilson beat Mrs. Mackay. Bronze medal: Miss McKelvle beat Mrs. McKelvle; Miss Perrett beat Miss Levett; Miss Amon beat. Mrs. Anderson; Mrs. Carter beat Miss P. Price. Juniors: Mrs. Gibbons won by default from Miss H. Tricker; Mrs. Gould beat Miss Dwyer; Mrs. Smart beat Mrs. Pearce; Mrs. Russell beat Miss Murphy. The Bulls Defence Rifle Club’s weekly shoot on Saturday was held over ranges 6f 500 ami 000 yards and some fair scoring was done, R. McKenzie and D. Lundy topping the score with 94 apiece. Hathaway, of Wellington, her •daughter, Mrs. A. Johnston, and the latter’s two daughters, returned to Wellington on Friday after spending a week renewing old friendships in Bulls. ' "Messrs M. C, Gould, J. S. Tricker and N. H. Amon left Bulls oil .Friday for Rotorua, where they will participate in the'Rotorua golf tournament. Mrs. D. D. Carl (nee Halliday) lias returned to Christchurch after spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs. J. Wicks. Messrs R. G. Flower and Moncton, of Wellington, are at. present holidaying in Bulls with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Flower. An. ..erstwhile resident of Bulls, Mr. Charles Scales, whose death took place at HalcOmbe on Thursday, will be buried privately at the Clifton cemetery this 'afternoon. Mr. Scales,.who w T as 78 years of.age, was widely known in Bulls, where he conducted a, blacksmith’s shop for many-' years, and much sympathy is felt fop his widow and daughter. .The many friends of Mrs. F. C. Brookie, of Paretvanui, will regret to learn that she is at present .in a very precarious state of health, and her condition is causing cbrtsiderable anxiety.
