Statute of Westminster

NEW ZEALAND’S POSITION Received Tuesday, 9.30 p.m. BANFF (Alberta), Aug. 22. Up to the present New Zealand has taken no steps to adopt the Statuto of Westminster, according to a paper read by Mr W. A. Curzon-Sliggers, of tho University of Otago, to tho Institute of Pacific Relations. “Now Zealand is satisfied with her present position within tho British Empire, and will not become an independent Sovereign State,” the paper said. "The genius of British and Dominion statesmen always finds ways to provent any breach of the Empire’s unity, despite the different tics which bind the various sections together.’ ’ It is doubtful, according to Mr Cur-zon-Sliggers, if the Now Zealand Government will proceed any further with the Statute.
