Cuban Revolutionaries Seek Ex-President

SECRETS OF OLD REGIME. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. HAVANA, August 19. Eighty-six political refugees have returned to the city headed by Miguel Gomez, a former Mayor. For hours they were escorted around the city amid the shrieking of mobs and the blowing of factories’ and ships’ sirens. The new Government has laid charges against cx-President Machado covering the specific disappearance of more than seven million dollars. Ricardo Herrera and Ruiz, one of the “porristas” (eecret police) and the chauffeur for Alberto Herrera, formerly Secretary for War and tho Navy, were killed in front of police headquarters, where they have been prisoners. Men and women on the balconies watched the spectacle. A band of four men are talcing the trail after ex-President Machado, who fled to Nassau, in the Bahamas. One member of tho group lost three soqs during the violence in the course of the Machado regime. The band has sworn to kill Machado or be killed in the attempt. Search of the dungeons and grounds of Atares fortress continues for political patriots who disappeared in the last two or three years. Revolutionary leaders declare 346 members of the Opposition have disappeared in the last three years after being taken to various gaols.

The body .of Felix Ernsto Alpizari one of four exhumed from the fortress stables, now lies in state at the University of Havana.
