Mrs. A. E. Andorson, of Feilding, has been on a brief visit to Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. John ' Murray; and family, North street, are holidaying at Packakariki. Miss E. Glanvillo, Havelock North, is visiting Mrs. J. J. Lawrence Scott, Fcatherstono street. Mrs. W. Collier, Wellington, and Mrs. A. C. Plummer, Dannevirke, are tho guests of their sister, Mrs. T. F. Fitzgerald, Fcilding. Mr. and Mrs. W. T. F Craine were Stanway visitors to Wellington for the inter-Collogiatc football tournament and returned home accompanied b'y their son Errol, of Nelson. The illness of Mrs L. A. Abraham was referred to at yesterday's meeting of the Palmerston North Hospital Board, of which she is a member. Members expressed the wish for her speedy return to health. The health of Miss J. N. AlcGhio, matron of the Palmerston North Hospital, was reported to the Hospital Board yesterday as having improved so greatly that her medical advisers now recommend her return to duty. Her leave of absence expires on August 31. At. the annual meeting of the Northern Sports Club last evening, a motion of sympathy was passed with Mrs. M. S. Eglington, a worthy mombor of the croquet section, in tho loss of her husband, whoso death occurred recontly. Those present stood in silence as a token of appreciation of the deceased gentleman. Miss Mary Hogan, who had served on the domestic staff of the Palmerston North Hospital faithfully for a period of 26 years, died suddenly at the hospital on Sunday evening. Yesterday the Hospital Board placed on record its appreciation of her services and decided to forward a letter of sympathy to deceased's sister. Members of tho board will act as pall-bear-ers at the funeral. .
Sister E. Gcdney, acting-matron of tho Palmerston North Hospital, reported to the Hospital Board yesterday that the health of tho staff had been good. Tho following nurses had passed their State examinations: Nursos Black, Collinge, Gallagher,' Horner, Lindsay, Pederson and C. Smith. The following nurses passed their physiology and anatomy examinations: Nurses Bramwell, Coles, K. Coles, Dickie, Durrant, Dawick, Grigor, lorns, Kentcnius, Kirton, Lawson, MacKinnon, Macintosh, Phillips, Roach, Robertson, Sladden, Stuart and SummCrell. The following nurses passed their cooking examination: Nurses Brown, At. Cameron, Donald, Hammond, Hornsey, Parr, Ruwhui, Fyfe-Smith, Shcrrard,. Train and Taylor.
