The Fruitgrowers’ Conference in Sydney passed a resolution asking the Federal Government to mako a further earnest endeavour to have the New Zealand embargo on Australia’s citrus fruit lifted. . It was stated that the growers had already lost £300,000 as a result of the embargo. One of the speakers (Mr J. Lawson) said New Zealand at present was .on the box seat and was flirting with America. Growers should be patient and wait. They should do their best to win the trade back. It was decided to ask the Government to provide a bounty in the shape of a guarantee against loss up ito Sydney parity at the date of shipment.
