During the month Mr. Finer left the staff to take up his duties at Newton West school, Auckland. On behalf of the childron, parents and staff, Mr. E. E. Johnston presented Mr. Finer with a handsome camera. At present Mr. Bond is relieving in place of Mr. Finer, Miss White in place of Miss Eedwohd and Miss (Sutherland in placo of Miss Martin. The school is indebted to Mr. Herion for giving half a day's work to tho making and fixing of rings on the basketball posts and also to Miss Tyerman for donating a largo supply of reading matter suitable for the senior scholars. Following on a resolution passed at the previous meeting to tho effect that the committee strongly disapproves of the 3ystom of transferring teachers during the school year on the grounds that interfered with the progress of tho class affected, a lotter was received from the Education Board relative to same. The board stated that while fully cognisant of tho disturbance in the school work resulting from frequent changes in the school staff, there were circumstances which precluded tho adoptiou of the committee’s suggestions. With a view to minimising the trouble the boards had agreed among themselves that except in very special circumstances, the appointment of teachers would be made as from the beginning of tho term only. The board also pointed out that there was no control over a teacher should ho or she wish to resign at any. time. The letter was discussed by the committee and finally received. Mr. G. W. Slano suggested that the committee should advance the sum. of £2 towards the purchase of material for basketmaking in. the school. This form of handiwork would take the place of some less useful kind of work and; would be practically self-supporting, the finished articles being sold. Tho committee approved of the suggestion and advanced the necessary amount.
