Huia Quintette’s Concert

AND COMMUNITY SING Believing that the public are sympathetic to the unemployed workers in the city—and our citizens havo demonstrated their sympathy during the last two years—the Relief Committee had the greatest pleasure in accepting the offer of the members of the famous Huia Quintette to present a concert and community sing in aid of the relief funds. With characteristic energy the quintette has arranged a programme for the Opera House on Wednesday night which for sheer merit has never been surpassed. Quite apart from their own contributions —which will bo excellently given—they have assisting them four ladies of exceptional ability, two gentlemen who have no superiors in their line, and the boy wonder violinist, Master Loveday, aged five years. There will also be several community sings led by Messrs Amos McKegg and Tom Simpson. This programme alone would bo unexcelled but for good measure a special appearance of Professor Gnawood, the eminent mesmerist, and Whisky Barrel, the world’s champion heavy weight lifter, will be made and the burlesque put over by these specialists should have the largo audience convulsed with laughter. The prices of admission are Is 6d and Is and there will be no reserved seats. This behoves everyone to be on hand rvhen the doors open at 7 p.m. Day sales of tickets arc at Simpson’s, Ltd., in the Square, and at McLacklan’s store, Terrace End. A bevy of ladies will be selling bags of sweets from 6d. A large audience is expected so bo early. From 7 to 8 the audience will be entertained with musical selections.
