Huia Quintette's Concert

(To the Editor.) Sir, —I would like to draw tho attention of tho public to tho above concert, which is being held in the Opera House on Wednesday next. This concert is organised to raise funds to assist, the Central Relief Committee in relieving distress in our midst today as a result of continued unemployment.

Tho money is most urgently needed, as every week sees our funds sadly depleted and tho committee is at its wits’ end to supplement the funds sufficiently to allow us to carry on. Unfortunately wc arc not nearly ablc to meet, all the demands for sustenance, and we should remember that very few, if any, would ask for help unless driven by cold, hunger or concern for their little ones, which drives them to the last refuge of the food, clothes and firewood depots. I do therefore appeal to my fellow citizens for their liberal patronage of this concert for such a worthy cause. By so doing they will materially assist the relief committee.

Tho fact that the Huia Qijintctte, supported by Palmerston North’s leading artists, will ho the entertainers, should surely warrant tho Opera House being packed to the doors.—l am, etc., W. E. MANSFORD, Mayor.
