The Fatal Pearifle
BOY RECEIVES FATAL INJURY. Per Press Association WHAKATANE, Monday. A shooting fatality occurred at Ohapae, six miles from Whakatane, yesterday afternoon, in which a 15-year-old boy,- Francis Dodd, was accidentally killed. It appears that two cousins, Dodd and Bluett (14 years), were ascending a hill, Bluett carrying a pea-rifle. Dodd, who was leading the way, turned suddenly to speak to his companion, and tho gun discharged, the bullet striking Dodd in the region of the heart. The injured boy succumbed on the way to hospital.
