From Our Own Correspondent. Mr A. Eamsden of Kumeroa has been elected a vice-president of the North Island Sheep Dog Trial Association. Mr J. Martin of the Waikato District is at present visiting his parents in Woodville. Cricket Club Ball. The Woodville Cricket Club held its annual ball on Thursday evening, the function being the best of its kind held this year. There was a large attendance of dancing enthusiasts, including visitors from Palmerston North, Dannevirko and Pahiatua. An energetic committee under the Club’s skipper, Mr C. Gallon, had spared no efforts in the preparation of the hall and both the floor and the decorations were favourably commented upon. Tho lady supporters of the Club very capably managed tho whole of the supper arrangements which proved to be no mean task. Excellent music was played by a professional orchestra from Dannevirke and extra dances were supplied by Mrs Schroder and Mr B. Cliote. The duties of M’s. C. were carried out by Messrs W. J. Miller, C . Gallon, W. Mail- and E. Nicholson. A. & P. Society. The Woodville A & P Association held its annual general meeting on Friday evening last when the president, Mr W. H. Gaisford, presided over a fair attendance of members. The election of officers resulted as follows: patrou Mr S. Bolton, president Mr W. H. Gaisford, vice-presidents, Messrs J. Murray, H. P. Horne, R. H. Morgan, E. Harding, J. C. Dolton and G. Peebles, treasurer W. A. Lyon, auditor L. J. Whittington, committee Messrs W. Arrow, J. Mitchell, G. B. DeAth, Rory Smith, G. H. Morgan, C. Armistead, 11. A. Iloulbrooke and A. Harris. A notice of motion “That members’ subscriptions be reduced from £1 to 10/- per annum” was moved by Mr R. H. Morgan, who, in speaking to same statod that at tho present time ho considered the present subscription of £1 per annum too high. Several other speakers spoko in favour of the proposed reduction, stating that if more members could be obtained greater interest would bo taken in the Association. Upon the motion being put to the meeting it was carried almost unanimously. The following new members were duly proposed and elected: Messrs K. Smith, J. T. Horne, R. T. Mabey, J. Swede, A. A. Walker, J. M. Rule, H. J. AlcPeak, Ken Strand and J. Trotter. Votes of thanks were accorded the president, the ladies for their assistance in catering at tho Show and at the Annual Ball, tho caretaker, Mr R. H. Morgan and his assistants for preparing grounds for the Show, Mr J. 0. Bolton for supplying the sheep for the dog trial, Mr S. Turnbull for the loan of catering material, tho auditor, tho Jockey Club for the use of the grounds, the secretary and the press. Social Evening. Imemdiately after tho meeting had finished all present adjourned to the adjoining room for the annual smoke concert. There was a large attendance including visitors from Pahiatua and Dannevirke. A splendid programme of musical items had been arranged and the various numbers rendered all received well merited applause. Those who contributed items were:—H. R. Ogg (Pahiatua) songs, J. Husband (Pahiatua) humorous songs, Mr Melville (Wanganui), songs, Ken Gillespie Dannevirke), musical monologues, S. L. Fannin (Woodville) songs, W. Greaves (Pahiatua), songs, A. Vaughan (Dannovirke) songs, R. Olson (Woodville), songs, Messrs Ogg and Husband, humorous sketch, and Messrs Wilson and Ogg, vocal duets. fore midnight by the singing of the National Anthem. Golf. During the week-end a team of Pahiatua golfers played a match against Woodville on tho local links. An interesting match resulted in which there were many close finishes, Pahiatua eventually winning by 20jr games to 15J.
