Palmerston North Relief Funds

As a result of a canvass of tho northern part of tho city, contributions of groceries have been promised by Mesdames G. E. Wilson, B. McNabb, R. D. Spraggon, P. D. Lawrie, A. Ponton, A. C. Zohrab, B. Hcndcrsou, Hawker, C. Louisson, W.‘ S. Btallard, J. Cuuuinghame, E. T. Coombs, D. M. Hunter, A. W. Thompson, A. C. Donald, M. Blackbourne, J. M. J. Mein tyre, S. B. Reed, and W. B. Cameron.

The effort to raise £IOOO by tho end of July may appear at first glanco difficult of accomplishment, but it will be interesting to see how tho fund grows during the next two weeks. On Wednesday night there is bound to bo a largo attendance at tho Opera House at the very fine concert and community sing arranged by the Huia Quintette party. On Tuesday, July 4, thero will be the presentation of “The Creation" by the City Choir under Mr. J. Holmes Runnidles' baton and assisted by Miss Myra Sawyer, Mr. Edwin Dennis and Mr. Ernest Short and an orchestra of 20 players. Then on July 7 at the Showgrounds is the great charity ball. This will be the means of assisting the funds very considerably. Donations of clothing, groceries, vegetables and fruit arc always welcome at the depot in Church street.
