Chief Marionette Pays Another Price at Napier Park

LUNA LUX SCORES IN STEEPLES. Per Press Association. NAPLIEE, Last Night, The Napier Park Racing Club’s winter meeting was concluded to-day. The weather was fine aud tho track in good order. Tho totalisator put through £6793 10s, as compared with £7221 10s on tho second day last year. The total Cor the meeting was £11,116 10s, representing a decrease of £1203 on last year’s total of £12,319 10s. Results:— WAIOHIKI HACK HURDLE'S, of 70 sovs.; 1J miles. 1- HIGH GRADER, 10.3 (Jenkins) 1 3-5 Rainuna, 9.0 (C. Thompson) .. 2 2- Mia Stella, 10.1 (Rennie) .... 3 Also started: 3-3 Tahoma, 4-4 Palota. The winner led all the way. Won by four lengths, one length. Tahoma lost his rider. Time, 2.44. GREENMEADOWS HACK HANDICAP, of 75 sovs.; 6 furlongs. 1-3 GRUMPY, 9.8 (Voitre) .. .. 1 5- Bradman, 8.9 (B. H. Hunting Jay bolted tho wrong way and took no part in the race. Hybiscus led from the start to a furlong from the post, followed by Grumpy, which won by three-quarters of a length. Duncan) 2 5-3 Tudor, 10.7 (Mr. K. Duncan) .. 3 Also started: 4-5 False .Scent, 2-2 Miss Hastings, S-4 Henry of Navarre. Red Plush and Palse Scent led nearly all tho way. James) 2 4- Kaokaoroa, 9.0 (Jenkins) .... 3 Also started: 2-2 Red Bank, 3-d Jen 9.0. Red Bank led for a mile and a-half with Kaokaoroa and Luna Lux following. Tho last-named then took command from Kaokaoroa with Acervate next. Jen lost his ridor at tho second fence. Acervate made a good run over the last six fnriong3 and almost caught Luna Lux. Won by a head, four lengths. Red Bank failed badly over the last round. Time, 5.5 3-5.

Huntingdon led from Merry Damon, Chrysology, Lady Spy, Curie and Chief Marionette to tho straight, where the field closed up. A great race ensued to the post and tho placed horses were separated by a long neck and half a head. Lady Spy was fourth. Time, 1.2 S 2-5. NEWSTEAD HANDICAP, of 75 sovs.; 7 furlongs. 3- SUNNY BACHELOR, 8.5 (L. Dulieu) , .. 1 1- Acsculus, 9.0 (Yoitre) 2 2- Swift and Sure, 8.13 (Anderson.) .......... 3 Also started: 5-0 Fondle, 4-3 Hunting .lay, 0-4 Sabatiui, S-8 St. Roger, 9-9 Royal Dash, 7-7 Bothwell, 10-10 Wine Tray. St. 'Roger and Swift and Suro made the running to the home bend, where Hunting Jay and Foiullo were next and the favourite last. Sunny Bachelor came fast and took charge in the; straight with Acsculus challenging. Won by three lengths, a length. Hunting Jay was fourth. Time, 1.29 2-5.
