Stock Improvement Plan
MORE BOARDS AND INSPECTORS. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, June 22. A draft of the Live Stock Improve* incut Bill, which it is hoped to have introduced next session, was before the conference of the Royal Agricultural Society to-day and was unanimously approved. The object is to provide for improvement by regulating sales in certain classes of male cattle, draught horses, sheep and pigs. It is proposed to eet up a Live Stock Advisory Committee, with two South Island and two North Island members recommended by the breed societies, and three members by the Minister of Agriculture, who shall draw up a stock improvement plan, appoint necessary inspectors and attend to other matters essential for the efficient operation of the plan. Complaint was made at the Conference at the high charges which had to lie met by any person importing sheep dogs from England. The Secretary, was requested to make inquiry of the shipping companies with a view to having the charges reduced and also to inquire into the quarantine charges.
