Stirring Golf in English Championship
SOME NOTABLE THRILLS United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright LONDON June 22. The biggest thrill in to-day's golf in tho amateur championship, was Cyril Tolley’s defeat of Eogg, a young noylakc player, in the fifth round match, followed by a largo gallery. Tolley seemed defeated when 3 down at the tenth. Pogg later was dormic two, but threw tho match away, missing a four-foot putt at the eighteenth, and hooking his drive at the nineteenth. Dunlap had a stirring win over Somerville. After the latter was 2 up, Dunlap clinched tho match by lofting over a stymie and following with an eagle. Dunlap against Hartley was uncanny in his approaching and putting. He holed the last eight in 26, one better than Compston’s strokes when he made a record for the cource.
