Mr McMillan Re-elected for Stratford
SUBSTANTIAL MAJORITY IN SECOND POLL. For Press Association NEW PLYMOUTH, Last Night. Extraordinary interest was taken m the second Mayoral election at Stratford to-day. The voting resulted: — J. W. McMillan ........ 081 P. Thomson 717 Majority for McMillan .. 201 At the election in May the same candidates polled an equal number of votes, ilr. McMillan being appointed Mayor ou the toss of the com. Mr. McMillan’s first act was to dismiss the electrical engineer, streets engineer, parks curator and several of the street staff. A petition was lodged against his election on various grounds, including irregularities at the counting and a new election was ordered. Mr. Thomson served as Mayor for tho term prior to tho May election.
