Mr. J. A. Nash, M.l\, was elected chairman ot ! the Palmerston North High Wchool Board of Governors at last night’s annual meeting of the board. Mr. Nash was previously chairman of the board during the years 1927-28-29.

Tremaine, newly-elected representatives to tho Palmerston North High Kchooi Board of Governors, were present for the Just time at last night’s meeting of tho board and wore accorded a welcome by the retiring chairman (Mr. W. L. Fitzlierbert), whose place as city representative Mr. Tremaine will till. Mr. Graham takes Mr. W. P. JDurward’s place as parents’ representative. Tho chairman also congratulated other members of the board on their rc-ap-pointments.

The death occurred in the Palmerston North Hospital tills week, of Mr Richard Henry Pratt, aged GO years. Deceased was born in Blenheim in 1873 and went to Wellington at the age of 21 years. Ho took a keen interest in all kinds of sport, including yachting, and at one time was a champion cycle rider. In 1920 deceased was employed in the flaxmilling business in Foxton, but was afflicted with a complaint that caused him to give up this work and return to Wellington. Later ho took up fanning and in 192 S went into business in Shannon, where he remaied for three years, then removing to Palmerston North and afterwards to Foxton, where ho lived until a few days prior to his death. Deceased leaves a widow and eight sons and three daughters. The daughters arc Mrs A. Galloway (Opiki), Mrs Frank Vcrtongcn (Shannon) and Mrs H. Dawson (Foxton), and the sons Messrs T. M. Pratt (Shannon) E. E. and N. Pratt (King Country), and E. T., It, 11., and J.H, Pratt (Foxton), and two young sons, George and David.
