BIG PROFESSIONAL BOUT WELL WORTH WAITING FOR To secure such a match as A 1 Periera, the giant Portuguese, against Big Jake Patterson, another 16 stoner, is well worth waiting for and the local association has shown great wisdom in not rushing in to get a match of any kind, that may turn out a fiasco, like the ■first bout of last winter. In securing Periera, the 23-year-old Portuguese wrestler, to meet Patterson on Friday night next at the Opera House, the performances of each so far this season justify tho meeting as the most evenly matched couple that could possibly be secured. Periera, this week, . beat “Whiskers” Blake because of his great strength and activity; Patterson drew with Mamos and Mamo3 is even with Periera so it looks as the tussle between theso big fellows is even betting. The Wellington Evening Post describes Periera as a fast, clean and extremely clever wrestler and congratulates tho N.Z.W.U. on tho quality of the wrestling shown to the public this year by comparison with what has been handed out to us iu tho past. Ihe Dominion and Auckland papers arc equally eulogistic as the performances put up this year by tho bevy of visiting matincn who at least seem to have realised that it is wrestling and not showmanship that the public pay their good money to see. Tho usual amateur bouts will precede tho big bout and country fans arc urged to write in early to the Central Booking Office which opens tho plans of the stage, circle and stalls on Wednesday next.
