Show Fat Cattle
BULLOCKS FETCH £9 5s The annual Winter Show sale of fat cattlo and sheep, held under the auspices of tho Manawatu A and P. As sociation, took place on Thursday afternoon at the Showgrounds. Tho recent improved quotations on the export and local markets were reflected in tho sale of both sheep and cattle, a healthy tone evincing itself at both sales.
In the cattlo pens splendid prime animals were brought forward, and, after a somewhat hesitant opening, buyers bid freely, with the result that later offerings realised from £1 to ~1 10s per head more than the first lines. The requirements of the market foi light beef were shown in the tact that hcavv bullocks made comparatively cheaper rates than prime heifers, tho peak price for bullocks being ■ p 9 ss, while heifers which, although prime, would kill much lighter, made up to £7. All lines, however, were well in advance of Tccent sale rates, and in every respect the sale was very satisfactory. Cattle quotations are as under, the prico shown being for each beast: On account H.
