Rongotea
From Our Own Correspondent, Saturday’s Sport. A friendly cricket match, E.ongotca v Bunnythorpe, was played . on • the Bunnythorpe recreation ground: on Saturday afternoon. After a fairly close game, Rongotea won tho first innings by 25 runs. The Bunnythorpe ladies provided lunch and afternoon tea. Air F. Wright, snr., thanked the ladies for their hospitality and tho Bunnythorpe team for a very pleasant day’s cricket.
Tennis. The tennis team also had another win to add to its victories on Saturday when it defeated tho Manawatu Club teeam by 107 games to SG and ten sets to 5. Details are as follows, Bongotca players being mentioned first: — Mens’ singles: B. 0. Gloyn defeated A. Puklowski 9-5, W. J. Gloyn defeated J. Croig 9-7, Florence defeated K. Evans 9-1. Ladies’ singles: Miss G. Eadcs defeated Miss E. Harrell 7-2, Miss E. Frccklington defeated Miss G. Gibbs 7-4, Miss B. Aird lost to Miss M. Dcidorick 3-7, Miss J. Eades defeated Miss B. Gibbs, 7-3. Men’s doubles: B. Gloyn and E. Tunnicliffe defeated Puklowski and Greig, 9-6, W. Gloyn and F. Florence defeated Smillie and Evans 9-7. Ladies’ doublos: Misses G. Eades- and P. Frccklington defeated Misses Warrell and G. Gibbs 8-G, Misses B. Aird and J. Eadcs lost to Misses Dciderich and B. Gibbs 3-7.
Mixed doubles: B. Gloyn and Miss G. Eades lost to Puklowski and Miss G. Gibbs 10-12, E. Tunnicliffe and Miss P. Frccklington lost to Creig and Miss Warreil 6-9, W. Gloyn and Miss B. Aird defeated Smillio and Miss B. Gibbs 9-1, F. Florence and Miss J. Eadcs lost to Evans and Miss Deiderich 9-1.
Tho Bongotca ladies provided afternoon tea.
