British Farce Will Prove Very Popular

“Ilis Wife’s Mother,” which commences at tho Regent theatre tomorrow evening, deserves a place among the best of the comedies made by British film producers. It bubbles over with clean and crisp humour, and is acted by a particularly good cast. Tho principal names are Gus McNaughton, Marion Dawson, Jerry Verno, and Jimmy Goddon, and all arc comedians in the first rank. Tho machinations of mothcrs-in-law have formed the theme of plenty of pictures humorous and otherwise. Nevertheless, although “His Wife’s Mother” simply relates how one more mother-in-law is cleverly outwitted after scenting a nice pieeo of trouble, there is not a foot of staleness in tho film. McNaugliton and Marion Dawson sharo tho leading honours. The former is excellent as the butler, who is always ready with tho right idea at the right moment, and the latter achieves a triumph as tho mother-in-law. Tall and still and with a continual gleam in her eye, slio fills her part w r cll. Then there is Jimmy Goddcn as Mr. Trout, .lerry Veruo has a lot of work to do in the rolo of Henry, and proves himself a capable comedian. Molly Lamont and Keiieo Gadd tako tho parts 01 tho two girls in tho picture, and Jack Ilobb.s and Hal Gordon aro also in the cast.

Allison Skipworth and Roland Young will appear together for Paramount in “Good Company,” by Nina Wilcox Putnam.
