defendant ADMITb bookmaking-. Charged with frequenting Cuba street for the purpose of betting, Nelson Edmund Baigent appeared before Mr j L. Stout, S.M., in the Palmers on North Magistrate’s Court yesterday and was lined £IOO. Defendant pleaded guilty o 10 charge and Senior-Detective Quirke asked for tlic maximum penalty. The Magistrate: Has he been carrying on for some years ? Mr Quirke: Yes. Defendant: This is my first offence. The Magistrate: You’ve been lucky. You will have to pay the same as the others.
