Palmerston Worth Golf Club

ANNUAL REPORT. Tiio following report, covering a successful year, will be presented by Mr. T. P. Hart at tlio annual meeting of the Palmerston North Golf Club: — ‘ ‘ The move to the Te Matai property has been fully justified. Wo now have first-class golling land, and by continuing improvements, we hope to give you a course second to none in the district. The club was exceptionally fortunate in that several generously disposed persons and firms provided cups and trophies. Our best thanks and appreciation arc due to theso donors. Luring the season we were fully occupied with various competitions which stimulated interest and improved the standard of play. Club competitions resulted as follows: —Kosco Championship Cup, A. E. Guyj Thomson Cup, T. Pain; Rogers Cup, A. E. Guy; Goldfinch and Cousins Cup, It. W. Cumberworth; Ekstedt Medallion, H. K. McKay; Ford Motors Cup, Miss Jepson; United Sports Rose Bowl, Miss Jepson; Ciochetto Vase, Mrs. J. V. Stevens. Home and home matches were played with the following clubs, and most enjoyable games resulted: —Eangitikei, Herrington, Shannon, Feilding and Bunnythorpe. The ladies’ section has had a most, successful year, and their committee has douo excellent work, and has been in complete harmony with the general committee. The thanks of the club are due to the ladies for the excellent catering arrangements carried out on opening and closing days. An entertainment committee, consisting of Mesdames Colquhoun, Bryan, Simpson, Day and Messrs. Huggins, Coupe and Cook, worked splendidly in raising funds, the result of which was to enable the committee to erect our present club-house. Although the year’s working shows a loss, our assets have increase!, after providing for depreciation to £l7l 12s 9d, a highly satisfactory result.. The following members of the committee retire as provided by the rules: Messrs. McMurray, Fell and Huggins, and it is the intention of none of these gentlemen to seek reelection. In conclusion, I wish to thank the committee and all members for their whole-hearted support and assistance during a very trying first year on the new property; also Mr. Jock Gibb, our professional, and Mrs. Gibb, the caterer, for their splendid work.
