Manawatu-Oroua Power Board Meets

OFFICERS’ REPORTS PRESENTED

The monthly meeting of the Mana-watu-Oroua Power Board was held in Palmerston North yesterday, Mr. 0. McElroy presiding. Also present were Messrs.” J. Hodgens, E. O. Bond, P. G. Guy, W. P. Bickers, J. Boyce, J. A. Nash, M.P., N. Campbell, J. Batchelar. C. G. C. Dormer and W. McKay. The statement of accounts as at March 1, presented by the secretary (Mr. K. W. Eglinton), showed the following figures: —Amount of loans, £507,200; expended to date, £505,850; balance, £1350; power fund advance, £2201; balance, £3551. A further £3OO of debentures were issued during the month. Installations and sales. The total collections for the month were £284 14s sd; the balance outstanding being £4779 2s Bd. Sales of current: The total sales on February readings were £0986 3s 7d, and the total sales for the same period last year £6912 8s 2d. Bank balances: Loan account, £1350 7s 4d; power fund account, £4569 19s 9d. Chief Engineer’s Report Tho chief engineer (Mr. W. A. Waters) reported: — Lines: The lines erected for Feilding Show were dismantled and the material returned to tho depot. Owing to increase of load in Edmay and Owen streets, Feilding, some of the low-tension cables were replaced with larger wire, and South, Owen, Edmay and Harris streets were ring-wired with the recovered cable. Extra lowtension wire to supply a range at Mt. Biggs was erected. Maintenance work was carried out by gangs at Otara, Hinau, Bangiwahia, Kimbolton road, Feilding, Fitzherbert, Whakarongo, Pohangina, Cooper’s line, etc. A transformer was burnt out at Whakarongo and replaced, due to wires getting fouled in a gale. Consumers: The following new consumers were given a supply during the month: Lighting and heating, 23; motors for milking, 4; ranges, 6; water heaters, 4; industrial motors (temporary 1 ), 1; industrial motors, 1; other motors, 6; additions to existing installations, 27; total, 72.
