Soccer in the Manawatu
ANNUAL REPORT OF ASSOCIATION The annual report of tho Manawatu Football Association records the activities of the 1932 season showing that St. Andrew’s compiled 28 points, Athletic 20, Flock House 16, City 8 and Feilding 0 in the senior league competition. St. Andrew’s also won tho senior knockout competition and Te Awe Awe Olti Boys and St. Paul’s each raised 23 points in the fifth grade competition. St. Paul’s also won the fifth grade knock-out competition. In the primary division Convent led with 19 points, Collogo Street 16 and Central 11. The report returns thanks to those gentlemen who gave their time to the hard task of refereeing. It was due to their efforts that such an improvement has been attained in the standard of football in this district. The Referees’ Association has not functioned properly as yet, but this year will see the existence of such a body. The junior committee, comprising Messrs Kcmpson (chairman), Facer (secretary), Ivey, Downes, Boles, Locke, Crowe, Baldwin, Smillie, controlled the activities of this division in a very satisfactory manner. The standard of i>lay in this important division was very satisfying to supporters of the code, and reflected the careful coaching received from the various men interested in each club. Tho balance sheet reveals a surplus of income over expenditure with a reduction in the bank overdraft to tho amount of the guarantee. The thanks of the committee are forwarded to all those who have assisted tho association in any way whatsoever and to all those who filled in any breach, such as refereeing and tho lending of cars for transport of teams.
